The Ancient City Reds were set to make a statement this weekend at the Atlantic Coast Cup NIT. Instead, the tournament was stopped before it began.

At 6:15 AM, USSSA announced the full cancellation of the 13U AA division due to unplayable fields at Davis Park.

“We’ve been looking forward to competing in this tournament with these teams for months now, and we knew there would be rain, but U-trip [USSSA] didn’t have a plan B,”

said shortstop and pitcher Brendan Roberts.

A Lost Opportunity

For weeks, the Reds had been preparing for this stage—lining up pitching, sharpening defense, and carrying momentum from a strong fall start. The Atlantic Coast Cup was circled on the calendar as a chance to prove our #1 AA ranking against high-level competition.

Now, the innings we planned, the matchups we wanted, the at-bats we needed—all gone. Fall baseball doesn’t hand out many of these opportunities, and losing one this big is more than just disappointing.

Where the Reds Go From Here

This cancellation isn’t the end—it’s fuel. The Reds respond to setbacks with sharper focus and tighter preparation.

  • Bullpens & reps: Every pitcher will get their innings this week, even if it’s not on the Davis Park mound.
  • Live ABs: Hitters won’t lose rhythm—we’ll create game-speed situations and push the tempo.
  • Brotherhood: A canceled weekend doesn’t rattle the Reds. It only strengthens our edge.

The Bottom Line

The Atlantic Coast Cup won’t happen for us. But the Ancient City Reds don’t measure themselves by one tournament. We measure ourselves by the way we prepare, by the way we compete, and by the standard we set every single time we step on the field.

We’ll be ready for the next opportunity. And when that time comes, we’ll prove exactly why this team sits at the top.

Stay tuned—our journey continues.
